After cleaning and shaving, they put the patient on a local anesthesia. So, patient is awake during the process. To make sure that the patient is comfortable, they put on music, movies.
They remove the hair follicles from the donor area. In FUT, they remove a strip of the skin and then extract the hair follicles while in FUT the hair follicles get removed individually. Then surgeon starts to implant those removed hair follicles into the bald area. After that, they stitch the donor area and put a bandage on the head or cover the head.
Hair Transplant Care After Surgery
It is really important to make sure listening to every word of the surgeon. Every patient has different medical conditions and reactions. Your surgeon will make sure to inform you in the best way. Your surgeon will tell you not to use a car after the 2 days post op hair transplant since local anesthesia still shows the effects of it. One day later, you might get the permission to wash your hair with just a water. To use a shampoo, your doctor might give you the permission after 4-5 days but normal shampoos aren’t allowed so they will probably tell you to use a baby shampoo.

To fully recover at least 3-4 month is needed. When your hair starts to fall out, that is when you are getting signals of the transplanted hair is about to grow. FUE is known as a scarless technique. Since in FUE, they remove the hair follicles from the donor area one by one, the scars are quite small dots that it is almost possible to notice them after hair grows. But for FUT, they cut a strip of the skin and that leaves a visible scar on the head.
Even though it leaves scars, after a while the scar tends to get lighter and after hair grows on it, it gets almost impossible to see the FUT scar post op hair transplant. Using a really short hair might show the scars on the scalp, so it will be best to use a longer hair to hide those scars. Every technique has their own pros and cons but FUE has been really popular around every kind of people who wanted to get hair transplantation.
Final Results After Hair Transplant
To see the final results post op hair transplant, patients need at least 8 months. It might seem like a long waiting period of time but this is when your hair fully grows and your scalp really recovers post op hair transplant. The new transplanted hair stars to grow after 3-4 months from the surgery. In that period of time, you will see that your new hair is growing through the scalp. Every person’s hair grows differently. So, if someone uses their hair as a long hair, then it might take a year to achieve that look. But no matter how fast their hair grows, to see the difference at least 8 months are needed.
